Li Keqiang, the current Vice Premier and presumably next in line to Wen Jiabao, was in London last week. I know this because one of my friends was recruited — and paid (not much, but still something) — to be on the welcome committee of enthusiastic patriots waving their flags for the Chinese television cameras as his car pulls up to 10 Downing Street, all to show the Chinese audience back home how warmly Li is welcomed in London. If my current career doesn’t work out, maybe I could try one as a Chinese flag-waiver?

Flag waving doesn’t seem to bad unless there is a lot of training! I wonder what the pay is?
