Today is the 22nd anniversary of June 4th. We tend to remember what happened in Beijing, but there were of course protests and demonstrations all across China during that spring/summer, including in Wuhan – the Wikipedia article on the event has a section that talks about student-organised sit-ins and roadblocks in Wuhan (which makes sense in a city with such a high concentration of universities). The complete censorship of any mention of the event seems to have been relatively effective in keeping it off people’s minds – I was in Wuhan when the 20th anniversary came and passed without any commotion, and it seems like it’s only really in Hong Kong that people seem truly determined not to forget.
